Raavan Movie Review :Maniratnam’s Ravanan review & Story

Perhaps this is the most anticipated film in recent times. Rightly so given the cast and crew assembled. Produced and directed by Mani Ratnam, ‘Raavanan’ stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai and Prithviraj in the lead roles. The other cast comprises Prabhu, Karthik, Priyamani, Ranjitha, Munna and others.
‘Raavanan’ is inspired from the Asokavanam episode in Ramayanam. It is a modern day version of the episode where Raavanan kidnaps Sita and keeps her in Asokavanam. Later Raman ventures to save his wife and bring her back.
The story of ‘Raavanan’ is said to be this. Dev (Prithviraj) is a police officer who falls in love with a classical dancer Ragini (Aishwarya Rai) and marries her. Post marriage Dev is posted in a tribal town controlled by Veera (Vikram) whose writs alone control the people of the town. Veera, the warlord is seen as challenger and the law enforcers lead by Dev believe the key to bringing order to the place is to crush Veera.

In an attempt to vanquish Vikram, Prithviraj misses the target and kills Priyamani who is the sister of Vikram. An infuriated, Vikram kidnaps Aishwarya Rai and takes her into the forest. This draws Prithviraj into the forest and the forest becomes their battle ground. The dense, confusing and scary jungle sets in motion a string of events which test their beliefs and change their fortunes.
When Prithviraj finds Aishwarya in the jungle he suspects her womanhood. A new battle then begins which becomes a battle between good and evil; Raavanan and Raman and at the end they all confront many truths. You can be sure of a startling climax typical of the creative genius Mani Ratnam.
So how are the characters in Ramanyam linked? Prithviraj plays a character inspired by Raman, Vikram enacts the role of Raavanan and Aishwarya the role of Sita. The supporting characters are also worked out something like this. Karthik is the modern day Hanuman and Munna is the brother Lakshmanan. Priyamani plays the role of Raavanan’s sister Soorpanakai. The role played by Prabhu and Ranjitha are not known yet.
‘Raavanan’ brings together Prabhu and Karthik after more than a decade. The have the same fire they had in ‘Agni Natchathram’. Vikram has said “Acting in ‘Raavanan’ is like being part of three Mani Ratnam projects, because, each and every scene was shot thrice” Aishwarya also has an equally powerful role. Probably this is the film which would bring out the real talents of Aishwarya.
The contemporary and modern Indian classical dancer Astad Deboo has choreographed a climactic life and death dance sequence with a tandav of passion, revenge and liberation for Ash. This is a fusion of kathak, ballet and contemporary dance which will show Ash in a new light.
The steps are complex and new and Ash had danced bare feet on slippery ground. She also did the steps twice over and in quick succession, first with Abhishek for the Hindi and then with Vikram for the Tamil.
Another surprise from Aishwarya is going to be her voice in Tamil. Ash has painstaking dubbed her voice for Tamil and nobody will be able to say she is not a Tamilian after hearing her speak. And making her more beautiful in the film is the celebrated fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee who has designed clothes for Ash in ‘Raavanan’.
The film was extensively shot in numerous locations around India including Pollachi, Ooty, Chalakudy, Athirapally of Kerala, Jhansi, Kolkata, Mahabaleshwar and in the Malshej Ghats in Maharashtra. Picturesque locations like the forest near the Athirapally waterfalls in Kerala is going to be real treat to the eyes. Athirapally waterfalls seem to be Mani’s favourite location as had filmed ‘Uyire’ song “Ennuyire”, and the ‘Guru’ song “Venmegam” at the same location earlier.
The cinematography is by Santosh Sivan, who replaced Manikandan as the cameraman and he has given the film a never before seen look and feel. Mani Ratnam – Santosh Sivan duo has worked wonders before in blockbuster like ‘Roja’, ‘Thalapathi’, ‘Iruvar’ and ‘Uyire’.
‘Raavanan’ has numerous action scenes of the Kerala martial art form kalarippayattu. Kalatipattu exponents Sunil and his brothers who have trained celebrities like SRK and Jackie Chan have composed the action scenes.
‘Raavanan’ is a tri-lingual also made simultaneously in Hindi as ‘Raavan’ and ‘Villain’ in Telugu. With Abhiskek Bachchan playing the title role and Vikram plays the role of Rama. Aishwarya Rai plays the role of Sita in all three versions.
Audience expects ‘Ravannan’ to be the best of Mani till date. By raising intriguing questions on the protagonist like did such a man ever exist? Is ‘Raavanan’ the line that divides Good from Evil? Is there a Ram inside Raavan? And a Raavan inside each of us? Mani Ratnam has opened our minds to question our conscience.
Music of the movie is composed by Oscar winner A R Rahman with lyrics penned by Vairamuthu. It features 6 songs and the music was soft launched on May 5 by Sony Music.
‘Raavanan’ is produced by Mani Ratnam under the banner of Madras Talkies at a budget of Rs. 55 crores. Being his home production, Mani Ratnam has not compromised anything for the quality. He has even brought specific dogs that look like wolves from Australia for a whopping Rs.3 crores for a particular scene.
‘Raavanan’ is distributed by Madras Talkies and Big Cinemas and will hit the screens on June 18, 2010.

Simha movie has all the elements a good commercial film needs. Simha’s first half of the movie, balakrishna is presented as a professor. Two of the heroins namitha and sneha ullal fall in love with him. First song in the movie is simhamanti chinnode with namitha. Second one is orabba with namitha and sneha ullal. BalakrishnaSimha main point that needs to be discussed is the dance in the movie. Dance for the first two songs is wonderful. Balayya had proved himself as a dancer with these songs. Through out the first half of the movie Bala Kishna is shown as a young hero with good make up. Fights in the movie are extra ordinary.SimhaTelugumoviereview of the second half of the movie,The highlight of the movie here balakrishna who is the father of the professor Balayya is shown as a doctor who helps the people as a surgeon and also helps them by killing the evil forces. Dialogues are less in the movie when compared to his previous movies. But the dialogues are also rocking. There is a dialogue about police and family which can be called as the best dialogue in the movie. Overall, Bala krishna’s punch dialogues after a college fight are well penned and executed. And the background score is awesome.

The VARUDU (Telugu movie) signifies bridegroom and the entire movie story consists of five days marriage procession.

Sandeep (Allu Arjun) is a happy go lucky guy who is fun loving but very traditional at heart. He decides to get married in the traditional fashion of five-day events and 16 day celebrations. So much so that he decides not to see the face of the bride until the ‘Jeelakarra Bellam’ time. True to his idealism, even the bride Deepthi (Bhanusri Mehra) sticks to it. Just when they are about to get married, Deepthi gets kidnapped by Diwakar (Arya). Why does Diwakar do that? Does the marriage happen? What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
varudu is all about a arranged marriage,which used to happen a 100 years ago and movie is a newer version of ramayanam story with some twists and turns

Allu Arjun: was good in his role,energetic performance.i think he must work on dialog delivary.
Bhanu mehra : she was not upto the expectations of audience.was good in her role,even danced well in relare relare.
Arya : Here comes the name who stole the show with his dialogs and performance.he made 2nd half worth. action episodes and dialogs were good inbetween arya and bunny
Gunashekar : did good work out script and direction. ithink he must have worked for some more time in the script.it was good not the best performance of gunashekar

THotta tharini: He was the man behind making this imaginary story into real.He Was Awesome
Graphics : CG And EFX were highlights of the film

Minus:
Bhrami was wasted for his small role.Entertainment was missing in the movie.
others like Ashish Vidyarthi, Suhasini, Naresh, Vinaya were just for brand value and they didn’t have much to offer. Singeetam Sreenivasa Rao, the senior director did his bit as required
Nasser was natural, Sayaji Shinde was brief, Rao Ramesh came and went.Second half was average which ruined the movie.
Even CLimax scenes were little bit over,and a scene where Hero running away with heroine along with Saline bottle in an action episode were meaning less shots.
Why the hero wants to go in for a pre historic style of marriage? Is it his idealism? Is it just a fantasy? The questions aren’t answered logically

Overall:
Even though the line is copied from Ramayanam.Movie could have made better.Only allu arjun,arya,sets,Lip Lock must save the movie in TMW.

Maro Charitra Movie Review
Set on the backdrop of US, Balu (Varun) comes home discontinuing his course at college and chances upon his neighbor girl Swapna (Anita). ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? is totally depends on the three characters mostly – Ajay, Konkona and Paresh and director Ashwni Dhir and his amazing writer team members [Robin Bhatt, Tushar Hiranandani] who have confirmed that there is sufficient comic scenes that you can remember for a long time. In the script writing main wonderful thing isthe spiritual part of the movie . The Athithi in home is arising in the funny manner the love towards God in Ajay and Konkona’s child by Mata ki aarti, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and the sanskaar.
But in the movie, ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? There are also some drawbacks, the writing wanders around some areas which could be avoided in the initial phase. Some scenes are repeated as the scene which occurred at the police-station. Without much delay, Ajay give the work of finding the rid from the Paresh, which looks unlikely improbable. Some scenes can be looked as just to enhance the film length. The episode of Paresh breaking wind (gas/flatulence) looks witty in a situation but the overdose of it looks very tiresome.

Movie Review: Tabu returns after a long gap. That should be reason enough to watch Toh Baat Pakki. For she's a fine actor who has proved her mettle, time and again. This time, she opts for a light-hearted comic role in a film that's cast in the mould of the middle-of-the-road comedies that made the eighties' cinema so winsome and breezy. Pitched somewhere between realism and drama, the film somewhat recreates that genteel era when cinema talked about flesh and blood people who didn't scream, holler and howl revenge. More importantly, their concerns were commonplace, like finding a suitable boy/girl and stealing a few romantic moments behind the back of meddlesome mums, didis and dadis. Remember Khoobsoorat, Golmal, Baton Baton Mein and the likes.
Well, Toh Baat Pakki may not be as riveting as the 80s entertainers, yet it rides high on sheer nostalgia. Also, it presents a different kind of cinema in an age that lays great emphasis on high decibel, larger-than-life drama. Tabu's talkative, inquisitive, control freak Rajeshwari who is hell bent on finding the right match for her sister, is eminently watchable. Living in a small town, she seems to have almost perfected the art of the small town conversation, being totally involved in the going-ons in the life of her neighbours and fellow townsmen. On hearing about her neighbour's singleton tenant -- engineering college student, Sharman Joshi -- she immediately lures him to her house and tries to entrap him as a groom for her younger sibling, Yuvika Chaudhary. It doesn't take a lot of effort on her part because the youngsters immediately fall in love. But the love story is short-lived since didi finds another dashing groom, Vatsal Seth, who happens to be Goddess Lakshmi's choice too. Time to throw out the old tenant and bring in the new....
For those who like their films to move at frenetic pace, Toh Baat Pakki may seem a bit laidback. But once you sit back and settle down for some gentle laughs, the film offers you an engaging drama with a tall act by tall and lissome Tabu. Sharman, carries on unspooling his careless charm after his charismatic act in 3 Idiots. A pleasant watch.

Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya (2010)– Tamil Movie Review,Story & Wallpapers

No more verdicts can be marked rather than calling it as ‘A Big Disappointment’ from Gowtham Menon. Of course, we were clear about the lines drawn of film’s premise prior to its release. Yeah! A tale of striking colors about fall-in-love situation for guy and girl isn’t something out-of-box thinking. But then, Gowtham’s buffs were enthralled over his mantra of changing makeovers of Silambarasan and Trisha. On the button, roping academy award winner A.R. Rahman was a cerebral-stud that kept everyone engrossed.

Regrettably, the film falls short out of expectations for its long-winded narration that turns a good story into complex terms.
Gowtham’s previous films had wonderful characterizations that had meaningful significance. Be his debut directorial ‘Minnale’ or a mediocre flick ‘Pacchaikili Muthucharam’: it’s had such elements that manifestly drew us in. Of course, the filmmaker has tried delineating strong characterizations here with lead characters, but most of the supporting roles are incomplete.
The film revolves around a wannabe filmmaker Karthik (Silambarasan) fallen in love with Jessie (Trisha) at first sight. Now, don’t make your guesses so prolonged about the film’s outline. It doesn’t boast about religious backdrops of threadbare love stories between Hindu guy and Christian girl. By nature, there are certain things popping up here and there, but the story travels completely on different lines. Jessie is disorderly wedged between emotions and her inner adequacies.
Finally, it’s all about a surprising climax, which is something uncompromising and on pars unconvincing as well.
Silambarasan has indeed delivered a matured performance, but looks quite stilted while delivering dialogues with subtle articulations. The actor has surpassed over the sequence where he interacts with Trisha during penultimate sequences. His hilarious encounters with cinematographer are amusing. Trisha’s rejuvenated looks are precisely resplendent and she emotes well in a faultless way. She’s just at her best while expressing her reasonless confusions while breaking up with Simbhu. Rest of the characters does get some prominences, but their culmination is incomplete at the end.
A.R. Rahman’s musical touch in ‘Hosanna’ and ‘Omana Penne’ are fantastic, but Gowtham Menon could’ve composed different visuals for the latter one. Manoj’s cinematography outperforms everything across the screens. Anthony’s editing is okay as he’s far away from his usual traits. He has adapted new techniques of cutting shots for this genre of romance-drama.
The first half has interesting moments that gratifies the universal audiences, but as the story proceeds towards the second hour, everything is messed with wavering narration. Gowtham could’ve trimmed down the duration and offered an alternative climax that would have obviously won him grand round of applause.
Trisha’s characterization is completely intense and realistic Hilary Swank utters in ‘P.S. I Love You’ – ‘We women don’t know what we want…’ when a guy questions her ‘What does a woman actually want?’ It’s obvious, as her characterization is so confused between her inner feelings and commitments.
Naga Chaitanya’s cameo with Samantha is a sang-froid entertainment (But most of the Tamil buffs are unaware about the new actors). In particular, Samantha looks cherubic and so confident with her minimal role. She’s a new girl to watch in town.
On the whole, ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’ lacks sense and discretion that doubtlessly lets every audience dashed down with their hopes.

Every star, after having delivered a row of hits, reaches a point of stagnation. Shahrukh seems to be going through this phase now. After Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the expectations were running high. But the big Khan fails to deliver in the movie Baadshah. But the blame does not lie entirely with him. No one could have rescued this movie, with its hackneyed story line, hopeless situations, and an overdose of hamming.

Shahrukh plays Baadshah, an aspiring small time detective, who is supposedly running through a lean phase, but yet has an amazing, state-of-the-art office, with a bungling assistant, played by the tiresomely funny, Johnny Lever. Shahrukh may be good at comedy, but he definitely needs a good director to set the parameters. Here he runs amuck and consequently he is more irritating than funny.

Baadshah is hired to convince a bade-baap-ki-bigdi-beti Seema (Twinkle Khanna), whose father, played by Avtar Gill, wants to get her married to a groom of his choice (since when did detectives take up matchmaking responsibilities). Shahrukh takes up the task, but ends up falling in love with the girl.

There are numerous twists and turns, where the lead pair goes through the whole gamut of filmi emotions. Finally the father is exposed to be a fraud and everything is peachy pie. But the director realises that this much of story couldn't last for the required 3 hours, and so he puts in a Chief Minister under the threat of assassination who doesn't have anyone to save her except Baadshah (imagine that!). After many more twists and turns, with Shahrukh and Johnny Lever competing to act crazier, the director mercifully ends the movie.

The movie aims at entertaining the audience. Wonder if there is an audience available that enjoys such low-grade entertainment. There is a whole lot of confusion with Twinkle Khanna trying to do an 'Urmila', and Shahrukh looking like he is on the run from a lunatic asylum. No wonder he's singing 'Main To Hoon Pagal'. If you are looking for some mindless fun, this movie is for you. Problem being its mindless all right, but there is no fun to be seen anywhere.

MS Raju well known as Sankranti Raju has come back with a mass commercial entertainer Maska by teaming with senior director B Gopal, young and energetic hero Ram and glamorous heroines Hansika and Sheela. As expected, the film has turned out to be a mass entertainer.

Krish (Ram) has not completed his degree, but wants to become a millionaire overnight. Following his friend's (Sunil) suggestion, Ram decides to marry a girl who would settle in the US with a big job. Krish tries to trap Manju (Sheela) the daughter of an MP, Jagannatham (Mukhesh Rushi). Learning that Manju wishes to love a boy who has been in love earlier, Krish narrates a fabricated love story to her. When Manju is about to propose to Krish, the fictitious character created by Krish comes alive as Meenu (Hansika). Then the triangular love game begins. Though Krish wants to trap Manju, he falls for Meenu's innocence.

Once, Krish saves Meenu from a gang of kidnappers and they become friends. When Meenu decides to propose to him, she comes to know that Krish is a fraud. She hates him and reveals the truth to Manju. However Manju loves him and asks him to save her from an unwanted marriage alliance. A few turn of events reveals that Meenu and Manju are step sisters. Jagannatham and another MP Shinde (Pradeep Rawat) contest for a ministerial berth. Shinde tries to disqualify Jagannatham on charges of bigamy for having married twice. In this backdrop, both Jagannatham and Shinde try to catch Meenu and her mother (Sita). In the climax, Krish confesses his true love for Meenu. The movie ends on a happy note with Jagannatham agreeing to relinquish the ministerial birth and Krish marrying Meenu.

PLUS: The film has been planned to be an out and out commercial entertainer. The first half is entirely devoted to attract the youth. The mind game coupled with comedy entertains the audiences well. Ram has got a complete chance to prove his acting capabilities with perfect comedy timing. Coming to the second half, director B Gopal has not been able to resist his regular tempo and instinct for making a faction-oriented subject. The entire second half is full of action and bloodshed. As a whole the film has all the elements that can attract the B and C centres' audiences. The music director has given tunes to the songs with a view on choreography. Hansika and Sheela have equally shared their roles in the film filled the glamour slots. Mukhesh Rushi and Pradeep Rawat are okay in villain roles. Comedy by Sunil is okay. After a long time Sunil has got an opportunity to play a full-length comedy role equal to the hero.

MINUS: Like many of the Telugu films, this movie too has no logic. However, the director needs to be commended for making the audiences believe many illogical scenes. Comedy by Brahmanandam has failed to evoke laughter. But for the logical part, the film is okay for a normal view. The audiences who spend their valuable time and money need not feel that their money has gone waste. But there are certain scenes where the audiences feel why and how the director could do that when it is almost impossible in real life. For example, the hero jumps from a 500 ft tall building, but goes unscathed. Such scenes evoke laughter from the audiences.

REMARKS: In one way, producer MS Raju has regained his past glory and has got back his earlier image of Sankranti Raju with the movie. Especially, Maska has brought back the smile on the face of 'Honey'. The novel combination of director, producer, music director, hero and heroine has worked out well. The directorial capabilities of B Gopal and the energetic performance by the hero Ram, the sizzling beauties Hansika and Sheela together are a feast for the audiences.

Chandu (Ram) is studying his final year engineering at Bellary. He is son of Tanikella Bharani who is brother of Nazar. Nazar is the head of united family having 3 brothers and a sister Rajitha. Chandu helps to elope his cousin who is daughter of Chandramohan and Rajitha. This irritates Nazar's family and they don't want to see his face. Chandu returns back to Bellary and finishes his engineering. One of Chandu's friend fall in love and the lover's father arranges her marriage with another person. This friend asks Chandu to help him in his marriage.Chandu decides to bring the bridegroom from the marriage hall but Chandu's gang mistakenly went to another marriage hall and helps Genelia to escape out of that marriage.

Genelia is a daughter of factionist and doesn't want to have marriage. After some interesting chases and action sequences Chandu helps her from out of danger and asks her to enter into his family as an orphan sent by their family friend. There she wins the heart of the family and the family decides to accept her as their family member and want to tie her knot with Chandu. Here the story enters into an interesting situation. Genelia is identified by her father's gang and they took her to their place. We need to watch the rest of the movie to know how Chandu wins over these action groups and wins the heart of Genelia.

Artists Performance:

Ready has perfect casting. Ram is very natural, charming and elegant. He did both action sequences and the comedy scenes very well. Genelia steals the show with her excellent performance. She is like an angel with lot of purity. Nazar is at his best in this role that demands extraordinary performance. Sunil has done a superb comedy role. His expressions as mada type character is so hillareous. Kota is very good in his role. Comedy by M.S.Narayana and Brhmanandam is extraordinary.

Technical Departments:

Srinu Vytla proved him self that he can handle both action and comedy very well. Dailogues by Gopi-Mohan and Kona Venkat are funny and catchy. There is lot of freshness in the film. Screenplay of the film is tight. Direction is exceptionally good. Music by Devisri Prasad is very good and the picturization of the second song "Ayyo ayyo daanayya" is very good. Production values by Sravanthi movies is so rich. Sravanthi Ravi Kishore did a marvellous job in delivering the movie on time by coordinating many charactor artists and we can expect this film can be another Nuvve Kavali for Sravanthi Banner. Camera by Hari Anumolu and Editing by Srikar Prasad are commendable.

Highlights of the movie:

Comedy scene by M S Narayana when he comes to Nazar House.
Chasing scenes in the forest.
When Genelia tells Nazar that she broke his momento.

First half of the film is excellent. Second half is even better. The assets of this film are director Srinu Vytla, Ram, Brahmanandam and Genelia. It is a full length entertainer and a family can watch the film with kids happily.

Kutty Movie Story :
